About

Hi, I’m Vonetta, a multipassionate entrpreneur who lives to create ease and clarity. How did I get here?

As a little girl, I dreamed of working in a fancy corporate office, wearing sharp suits to work every day and making important decisions nonstop. I held onto that dream until I was 30, when my corporate reality didn’t meet up to my little girl dreams.

While I was being microaggressed out the door of my investment management job, my estranged father passed away, shaking the foundation of my life entirely.

Suddenly, I was able to recall why it felt so familiar to feel out of place and inadequate at work:

I’d felt the same way when I was eight years old, in my own home with a father and siblings who treated me as if they wished I’d never been born.

So, I decided to leave the corporate world and tell my story. I became a full-time writer, drafting a memoir and honing my storytelling craft. My essays and short stories were published online and in print, and I reached the top ranks of literary magazines as a senior editor.

But something was missing. I was never completely happy as “just” a writer. Why?

Because my little girl self kept reminding me of her dream.

The business world wasn’t a dream for me; it is a part of my identity. I love solving complex problems, iterating solutions, and the feeling of “YES!” when I reach a winning conclusion. So, I went back to private equity, but this time, on my own terms, as a solopreneur working with first-time fund managers of color on fund formation and investment readiness. I serve as a trusted advisor to these folks through strategic advisory engagements, as a fractional COO, and by writing marketing materials.

Meanwhile, I was invited to speak to audiences of women to share my story of how I turned those feelings of inadequacy on their head and took back my power. I love motivational speaking because it gives my little girl self her voice and power back every time I tell my story.

I became a certified mat Pilates teacher to reconnect with my body and breath, and found that I love the alignment Pilates brings me, not only physically, but emotionally.

The idea of “ease” may seem soft at best and lazy, at worst. But life doesn’t have to be as hard as we make it. If you can get the same results without the struggle, why not do it with ease? If you only live once, what’s stopping you from savoring the moments joyfully? Only fear. Ease and flow let us maintain our energy and accomplish even more, while actually enjoying this gift of life.

Which brings me to you.

I’m here to serve you. I believe in you, women and people of color who are changing the world by simply being in the room. Are you tired of being afraid? Are you exhausted of struggling? Do you feel you’re on the brink of something huge and you just want to move forward?

You know the leader you want to be. I can get you there.

So, come on, let’s talk. Book a call with me.

Let’s create ease and clarity, and watch your life change for the best.
